How to Host a Low-Stress Halloween Party

In this BIT: Your Halloween guide for how to host an easy Halloween party has arrived! Step into the spooky season, stress free.

Happy Halloween season! A time filled with costume-planning, spooky snacks, cozy movie nights, and pumpkin carving. For those of us who want to host family/friends over for a seasonal party, but don’t love the chaos of organizing a big event, we’ve got your back. It’s (very) possible to have fun without tons of effort and overload. You read that right: this is your blueprint to hosting a low-stress Halloween party. Keep the spooky fun and say ‘goodbye’ to ghoulish chaos.

1. The Decor…

Keep your decor simple!  Trust us, it’s possible to evoke a festive atmosphere without going over the top. A little goes a long way when it comes to Halloween.  Hang up some fairy lights, display a carved or painted pumpkin – or, purchase some gourds from a local store!  If you don’t have a carved or painted pumpkin, just a regular one keeps the Halloween spirit alive, too.  Want to level it up a notch without too much extra effort or clean-up?  Order or purchase some Halloween plates or napkins – these little touches make a big difference.

2. The Menu…

Please any crowd with a mix of store-bought favorites and easy DIY recipes.  Put out a bowl or candy and popcorn.  Then, put together some low-effort, Halloween-themed DIY foods, using easy-to-find store bought goodies.  We love the Reese’s Cup and Oreo cookie Oreo Bats! Even better, invite guests to bring their own Halloween snack making your party a potluck!

3. The Activities…

Rather than overwhelming yourself by planning a multitude of activities, establish one solid theme for your party.  Movie marathon.  Pumpkin carving or painting.  Halloween karaoke.  Spooky cookie making.  When you outline one core activity, it takes the uncertainty and overwhelm out of the equation, and lets you enjoy the fun!

4. The Mood…

Put the finishing touches on your Halloween mood with lighting and music.  Dim the lights, light up a couple candles, and play some spooky songs!  Curate your own playlist of Halloween hits, or find a pre-made one on your streaming platform.  Try this playlist! These tweaks create an instantly cozy atmosphere with almost no effort.
