How To Be Less Tired At School
In this BIT: All the best ways to be less tired at school, have more energy, and how to not fall asleep in class. Plus, discover our top study tips!
Napping in class is something that many of us are guilty of doing, however, this often results in upset teachers, and missed lessons. The challenge is, that as teens we tend to go to sleep later, and therefore, feel more tired with the early rise that school mornings require. Having healthy energy levels allows us to focus better, boosts socialization, and keeps us going throughout the school day and extracurricular activities. Below, discover the easiest hacks to being less tired at school!
1. Snack Wisely
Oreos, chips, and chocolate certainly bring us a small bit of happiness. However, the energy that these treats provide is short term. They spike our sugar levels quickly, and lead to a quick decline, or sugar crash. Pack a variety of snacks, including fruits and vegetables, which our bodies digest slower, leading to a gradual energy release. Of course, include a little treat to boost your mood!
2. Morning Shower
In an article on the New York Times, Dr. Jackie K Kennedy shares that morning showers boost alertness, helping us get out of ‘sleep mode’ and feel ready for the day ahead. As a teen, I understand, we don’t want to wake up even earlier to shower. Shorten your shower time by using your morning shower as more of a ‘rinse’ than a full body cleanse. Skip the hair wash at this time, and just let the (preferably cool) water wake you up.
3. Engage In Class
Feeling tired and bored in class? Motivate yourself to engage and participate! Ask questions, take notes, complete the assigned work in class, and pay close attention to your teacher. This study tip keeps you focused on the concept being taught, and gives you something to direct your attention towards, rather than snoozing off.
We hope that these tips help you feel less tired, and not fall asleep in class, bringing you a small bit of happiness.
