Do you ever feel bad about how you look? This includes feeling bad about your body, face, skin, hair, or any other part of you.  We get it! Everyone (even those you look up to), feel insecure from time to time. Be it about a sudden zit, or a feature you were born with; feeling insecure is normal, but it isn’t a mindset that we need to feel trapped within. We’ve only got one body, and it’s important to appreciate it, and be kind to ourselves. Below are our top tips for how to like your body.

1. Can’t Change That Fast 

Do you ever miss how you used to look?  By ‘used to’, we mean the way you looked in the past, especially while scrolling through old photos or videos. I can relate.  Sometimes, we miss how we looked a week, a month, or even a few days ago. But here’s the thing; our bodies can’t permanently change that fast!  Maybe you’re bloated, your hormones are shifting, or you have a temporary body change, but overall, we can’t change that much that fast!  Even more-so, if we have changed, it’s okay.  Life is a journey, and nothing stays the same forever, that’s unrealistic!

2. Say It!

Body image expert, Teri Hofford, says that by making a daily practice of stating something positive about yourself, creates a habit inside your brain of acceptance and confidence.  Every morning, as you get ready for the day, start the day off on a positive note by looking in the mirror at some point in your morning routine, and saying (out loud) even in a quiet voice, “I am beautiful, I am strong, I am good, I am confident”.  Even if you don’t believe what you are saying at first, as you hear yourself say this everyday, body image expert Teri Hofford says that you will start to believe it. 

3. Follow These Accounts

Our social media feeds are often flooded with society’s ideal standards of beauty. However, our intake of beauty is within our control. Follow people who embrace their body, who have different body types, or people who are your ethnicity/body type.
