2. In preparation for fall, farmers plant over a billion pounds of pumpkin in July.

3. In the fall, certain squirrels experience a 15% increase in the size of their brain, to help remember where they stashed winter food!

4. Monarch butterflies migrate up to over 3000 miles to escape the upcoming winter cold!

5. Fall used to be called “Harvest” in Britain.

6. In Japan, the Autumn equinox is a national holiday.

7. The night sky changes in the fall, offering the clearest views of the Andromeda Galaxy – the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way.

8. Pumpkins are actually considered fruits, as they contain seeds and grow from flowers.

9. One of the longest migrations is the Arctic Tern’s 11,000 mile journey!

10. The Harvest Moon’s name stems from the fact that its bright light allowed farmers to work later into the night, harvesting crops.
