In this BIT: Do you need some snack ideas? These homemade snack recipes are simple and perfect for the next time you’re wondering, “what should I eat?”
Who else LIVES for the snacks? They’re simply a small bit(e) of happiness — a mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up. Sweet or savoury, crispy or crunchy, I’m here for all the snacks. However, store-bought snacks are often not ultra budget-friendly snacks. They also frequently leave me feeling sick due to all the unnecessary additives. The reality is, preparing snacks at home doesn’t need to be time consuming, difficult, or boring. Below, these snack recipes have been on my rotation for a while now, and are definitely worth a try! They’re budget friendly, simple, and so good.

1. Watermelon Salsa
I can’t get enough of this twist on a classic guac & chips. The watermelon salsa is a fun way to celebrate summer by eating fresh melon in a new form. Pair with your favourite tortilla chips.
This snack tastes and looks ultra-gourmet, but thanks to the use of store-bought puff pastry, it is very simple. The Mediterranean Pinwheels require minimal ingredients, and are also a great item for potlucks.
I co-created this recipe (alongside my sister), because we love apples, and often found ourselves wondering – “what should I eat when I’m craving something sweet, but not a full dessert?”. We also love to make these with friends — everyone adds their favourite toppings!
Use whatever you have on-hand! Customize your cheese, cold cut, and vegetables. It’s fun to switch up the ingredients for a slightly different snack each time.
The next time that you’re asking yourself, “what should I eat?”, try one of these snack recipes! We hope that these homemade snack ideas bring you a Small Bit of Happiness.
